This is just
one of the most strangest and amazing drinks I have ever consumed. I have tasted a few
which have made my face resemble someone that is suffering a severe case of palsy. But
there are a few out there that are just the taste of perfection.
Absinthe originated from France in the late
1800's. But because of incidents resulting in death (either from murder, or excessive
drinking) the drink was banned through out France, and still to this day Absinthe remains
illegal in many countries.
The Checq Republic are one of the major produces
today, but Germany and Spain also make it.
Absinthe is extremely high in alcohol, normally
between the 60 to 70%.
The key to Absinthe is the herb Wormwood. Though
there are some Absinthes out there that do not use it and replace it with ethanol.
